When you're exercizing to burn fat or get in shape, you need to keep track of your heart rate and keep it in a range that will work your body the best. It's easy to do this simply by feeling your pulse and counting the beats. But that can be a little awkward during exercize sometimes.

More and more people are getting heart rate moniters to do this for them. You just strap it on before you start exercizing and it will continually tell you what your heart rate is. They aren't cheap though, so you'll need to decide if the added convenience is worth it.
